Orange and Poppy Seed Cake with The Kind Harvest Co. Plain Flour

2 cups The Kind Harvest Plain Flour
1/2 cup sugar
2.5 tbsp of poppy seeds
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil (I used olive)
1/4 orange zest
1/3 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
1/4 cup apple sauce
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup milk (I used soy milk)
3/4 orange juice (freshly squeezed)
1 cup sugar
Preheat the oven to 180'C
Line a 8 x 4-inch loaf tin with baking paper.
Add the Good Harvest Plain Flour, sugar, poppy seeds, baking powder, baking soda and salt to a mixing bowl. Add in the oil, orange zest, apple sauce, vanilla and milk and gently stir to combine.
Transfer to a 8x4-inch loaf tin and bake until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean, roughly 40-55 minutes.
While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup.
Place syrup ingredients into a small saucepan and heat on medium temperature until the sugar has dissolved. Once the sugar has dissolved, bring to a gentle boil. When then syrup mixture has reduced to about a thrid, remove from the heat and allow to cool.
Once the cake is done, remove from tin, place on wire rack and drizzle with orange syrup.
